Dear friends, the third installment of our coverage regarding the upcoming Czech translation of the third volume in the Masterpieces artbook series by the English publisher Heavy Music Artwork with the selection of the finest metal artworks of 2019 has arrived. Today we are finally going inside the book as such, introducing the first two galleries that you will come across when opening this title.
The first one is entitled "Best artwork of 2019" and presents simply the finest metal frontcover of the year before last, which came from the "Distance Over Time" album of the U.S. icon DREAM THEATER. The art was authored by the Canadian visual artist Hugh Syme. The scope of this multiple holder of the Juno Award for best album graphics and design is truly impressive with commissions for such names as Rush, Aerosmith, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, Def Leppard or Queensrÿche. In addition, Syme is also involved in advertising, with clients including Microsoft, Sega or the film companies Paramount and Miramax, as well in publishing, wherein he worked for example for the Forbes Magazine. You can check out his portfolio here.
The second gallery is entitled "Master Artist of the Year", presenting such a visual artist, who within the year in question created a truly outstanding portfolio of frontcovers that received a well-deserved high acclaim. For 2019, said mastery went to the artist, originally from Germany, known under the monicker Misanthropic-Art, whose clients include over 700 bands, such as Dismember, Behemoth, Asphyx, Primordial, Uada, Kampfar or Pig Destroyer to name a few. His art rarely sticks to a single style or technique, and it is apt to note that as an artist, Misanthropic-Art is purely self-taught. More of his art here.
So, enjoy and more next time!
