Dear friends, the Czech edition of the "Life...? And Napalm Death" autobiography by the legendary figure of extreme metal Shane Embury is officially published today.

Shane Embury openly about life and Napalm Death. The striking autobiography out now in Czech translation

He has been making the craziest and most ferocious of extreme music. Napalm Death, Brujeria, Lock Up… that’s one hell of a CV. Shane Embury certainly has a lot of stories to tell, and he is great at it! You can check for yourself in his Life…? And Napalm Death book that is now available to the Czech readership.

This captivating autobiography takes the reader on a front seat, white-knuckle ride through the sights, sounds, places, and people who’ve been central to Embury’s music and life. To move past the sole focus on the main character, other notable figures also have their say, thus bringing more pieces into the puzzle. The outcome is a solid walk down the memory lane of one of the foremost legends of extreme metal, of the history of Napalm Death and the genre itself. In short, a magnificent treat for all fans.

“It’s always hard to know what to say when you’re talking about yourself, and how honest you should be. The last thing I want with this book is to upset anyone, but I also want to present myself as truthfully as I can,” writes Embury in the book’s introduction and adds: “This is my story and how I remember it, warts and all. Other people will probably have different memories, good and bad, but I don’t feel the need to hide anything that might seem embarrassing, or the darker side of my character.”

Embury takes the reader even to his early years, talking about his family and the music that formed him. He returns to the times he was enchanted by bands such as Sweet or Queen, as well as recalls the very first LP he got… which was by Slade! It shows that it is the music fan talking, but at the same time he does not shy away from personal topics, which are not always pleasant.

The Napalm Death bassist simply documents his life in full. “Part of me is still that kid in his own little world. I never realized it at the time, but I think a lot of what I’ve done with Napalm Death and all the other stuff I’ve been involved with was partly an attempt to prove something to those people who said I’d never have a career in music, or even those kids that bullied me at school. It’s not an arrogant, ‘Fuck you, look at what I’ve achieved’, but it is about leaving a mark of some kind, even if it’s a small one,” he writes in the book that will pull you in instantly. And you will root for the man from page one!

The book is published in paperback format, and was translated by Michal Smolka. It has 226 pages in total, as well as a photo insert from the author's personal archive.
