Dear friends, the resurrection of the literary death metal opus "Revoltikon" is finally entering its next phase. For today, this acclaimed autobiography of Bruno (Krabathor, Hypnos) is officially out again, this time as an audiobook, voiced by the author himself!

Bruno’s Revoltikon out as an audiobook

Krabathor, Hypnos, death metal… This Spring, the Revoltikon got a new print edition, with the publishing house and label MetalGate also announcing an audiobook to follow soon after. And so it comes to pass, voiced by the author himself, by Bruno.

“The listener is up for over 14 hours of narration about Bruno’s life, as well as, predominantly, about his musical career, including studio recollections or road stories, which in such a form sound as authentic as possible, as well as (akin to the print version) period album reviews and concert reports,” says Ondřej Šmejkal from MetalGate, adding that it is a brand new experience for the label – an audiobook debut.

The audio version of the Revoltikon was supposed to happen much sooner though. Bruno planned it shortly after his autobiography was published for the first time in 2014. The work gradually began, and during the two years that followed, David Vaculík, Bětka Kynclová-Mahdalová and Jaroslav Loucký voiced various parts. The biggest question was who would voice the core text, that is, Bruno’s story. In the end, the author decided to choose himself. “Because I was financing the recording sessions from my own pocket, money was the primary reason. Working with a professional voice actor would be beyond affordable. In addition, I thought that if I were to read it, albeit a total amateur in the field of voice acting, it would create a first-hand experience. I lived it, I wrote it and so I know the most about it. At least it would be authentic,” outlines Bruno.

Before however the recording could continue, works began on the next Hypnos album, as well as on the Demonizer release by Krabathor, and Bruno’s daughter was born. Thus, the Revoltikon audiobook ended up delayed for several years. “I finally dragged myself to do it only last Spring, but during the first session in our local theatre I found out that recording there was no longer technically possible. So, I moved to the Shaark Studio in Bzenec, where we also record our albums. I was there regularly once a week for nine months. And the outcome is over 14 hours of recording,” describes Bruno and continues: “I must praise the work of the label MetalGate, because they decided to invest their money, time and energy to both the print reissue and the audiobook. They really rose to the occasion and both editions look great. Big thanks for putting your trust in me! I hope that both the book and the CD will do well on the market, thus leaving the door open for possible future cooperation.”
