Dear friends, if you like to wander the post-metal soundscapes, take note, for today is the official release of "V těle a zemi", the debut full-length of the Czech act Mayon on vinyl in two color variants!

The premiere full-length album of the post-metallers Mayon in here! Out on vinyl

Next time it has to be a full-fledged album! Such were the parting words of the post-metallers Mayon to the producer Amák, when recording their initial EP in his Golden Hive Studio years ago. When they returned in 2023, the band knew the new songs are strong enough for them to seek out a label. And they tried MetalGate, known for its affinity to post-metal iterations. A deal was reached, and fans can now rejoice the vinyl release entitled "V těle a zemi" (In Body and Earth).

The album is an offering of five emotive and dynamic tracks that place Mayon alongside the best the local scene has to offer in this genre. “In any case, the essence of Mayon is experimenting, which is why the songs on V těle a zemi are quite colorful. Style-wise all over the place. Yes, the closest one is post-metal, but there is much more than that: noise, blastbeats, stoner, sludge, hardcore,” observes the guitarist Crack.

You can in fact hear the qualities of "V těle a zemi" yourself, as we stream the album in full on our YouTube channel as usual:

Though the band has been around for only five years, they are no newbies. They gained precious experience in bands such as I Killed Many People For Money or Social Party. “Initially it was a project,” reminisces Crack about the beginnings. “Our first EP Kaldera revolved mainly around what we composed before Mayon. Sound-wise it lacks confidence, because we had not really thought about how we want to sound. Plus, we only had a few live shows behind our belt. However, the project eventually grew into a band and we started to take it all much more seriously. We took our very first original song Strach (Fear) and built on that, writing everything for three guitars, three vocals, bass and drums. And from there we got to the debut.”

The album is released on vinyl, the artwork of which was done by the visual artist Sabon from the Defabrik collective. “He is a fan of ours and we give him a free reign. I think he did the whole design when we gave him the album to listen to. It builds on the title of the song that ultimately became the title of the whole album and hence revolves around the themes of body and earth and their associations,” concludes Crack.
