Dear friends, welcome to the second installment of our coverage regarding the Czech edition of “USBM: A Revolution of Identity in American Black Metal” by Daniel Lake. And it is precisely the author whom we shall introduce today in more detail.
Daniel Lake comes from the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, namely from Maryland, where he still lives and teaches math, English and drama to high school students.
As he observed, his introduction to metal, especially the extreme one, did not happen the usual way, meaning from the genre mainstream, but rather the other way around from purely obscure acts, whose lo-fi recordings were dropped on him by a friend (and which he initially hated).
Daniel began writing about metal in 2011, when he joined the staff of the Chronicles of Chaos webzine. The following year he began contributing to the iconic Decibel Magazine. “USBM” is his first book.
And that is it for today. Enjoy and more next time!
