Dear friends, if you fancy the next load of metal literature, know that there is a treat coming next month already, and the next and the one after that. Simply put, you can add no less than three new books to your librarium in January, February and March 2025!
January shall be marked by the Czech translation of “USBM: A Revolution of Identity in American Black Metal”, penned by Daniel Lake, a longtime contributor to the iconic Decibel metal magazine, to dissect the evolution of the genre on the other side of the pond from the 90s pioneers such as Von, Absu or Profanatica, all the way to the second wave of Californian innovators such as Bosse-de-Nage, Mamaleek of Deafheaven, whereby in between lies all the rest such as Xasthur, Nachtmystium, Uada, Cobalt, Agalloch, Wolves in the Throne Room, Falls of Rauros, Krallice or Imperial Triumphant.
February is all about the comeback of a book you may have heard about, for returning is “Revoltikon”, the autobiography of Bruno Kovařík, an iconic persona of Czech metal scene inherently bound with the legendary death metal warmachine Krabathor, as well as with its spiritual successor Hypnos. A third edition already, this time with new cover, layout and design.
Death metal shall be the keyword of March as well, for what is coming is the Czech translation of the band biography “Turned Inside Out: The Official Story of Obituary” by the American writer and music journalist David E. Gehlke (also authored the Paradise Lost biography) that chronicles the journey of John Tardy, his brother Donald and Trevor Peres from their beginnings in the 80s in Tampa, Florida (as Executioner), to the Obituary’s eponymous 10th full-length from 2017.
More about each book coming soon in our usual coverage, so stay tuned!
Enjoy!
