Dear friends, onward to butchery! For today, the Czech edition of “Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal & Grindcore” by Albert Mudrian, the editor-in-chief of the iconic American metal magazine Decibel, is published.
Choosing Death! The iconic extreme metal book finally in Czech translation
Absolute classic. Such can be said about Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal & Grindcore, the Czech translation of which was just published by the Prague-based MetalGate Records. Passion, love of extreme music and meticulous labor of its author Albert Mudrian made this book an iconic artifact that is treasured by fans worldwide in their collections. And now, the Czech metalheads can join in as well!
“Choosing Death seemed to come along at just the right time. The scene was seeing an unexpected resurgence across the globe, and this book provided the backstory,” says in his foreword Scott Carlson (Repulsion). On one hand it embodied nostalgia, but on the other hand, it brought a unique probe into the history of both genres for the young generation who thus discovered the old-time classics. “The tremendous effect that this book has had on the scene cannot be overlooked,” adds Carlson, observing that “Choosing Death” is unequivocally considered the holy bible of extreme metal. “This is a testament not only to the music itself, but to the quality of the writing – and the extreme attention to detail afforded each subject.”
The book takes its reader on a helluva ride through the history of death metal and grindcore. The locals will surely welcome the inclusion of Krabathor among all the iconic names of the worldwide scene. The text is accompanied by loads of archival photos and other rarities. Furthermore, the Czech readership is getting the revised and expanded edition of Choosing Death, which was originally published by the U.S. publishing house Bazillion Points in 2016.
Simply a treat extraordinaire for all extreme metal maniacs!
